Durell was a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), and the President of Personal Solutions. He was also a LPC Supervisor for Counselor Interns pursuing their state licensure. After being raised in the Shreveport area, Durell was involved in trauma recovery since 1989. He served as Chaplain for the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Department and Caddo Fire District #3. In addition to assisting with trauma recovery, Durell’s areas of expertise included working with individuals and families within issues such as marriage, anxiety, depression, parenting, divorce, crisis and grief. Durell held a Ph.D in Human Services and a M.A. in Counseling and Guidance. Other certifications he had earned include Certified Trauma Specialist, Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress, EMDR Therapist and Clinically Certified Forensic Counselor. Durell was a dynamic public speaker and could provide energizing training seminars on a variety of topics such as leadership, conflict resolution, problem solving and personality.
